5 Financial Lessons From Star Wars

5/4/2017

In honor of today being the unofficial Star Wars Day, we would like to remind you that Star Wars is not just about an epic battle of good vs. evil to win the galaxy! There are many lessons to be learned and we want to bring to light a few financial insights…

So pay attention young Padawan.

Trust the Force

Obi Wan repeatedly tells Luke to “trust in the force” and stick to the plan instead of having knee jerk reactions. Avoid impulse buys and your budget will thank you!

“Size Matters Not”

Yoda taught Luke that “size matters not” while explaining how he levitated the ship using the force. The same applies to saving. No matter how small it starts, you can build up your savings over time. Patience you must have, my young Padawan, to reach your savings goals.

Don’t wind up frozen in carbonite.

Pay your debt in full and on time! Don’t be like Han Solo, hunted down by Bobba Fett, and frozen in carbonite because he owed Jabba the Hutt.

These aren’t the droids you are looking for

Don’t cave to high pressure sales tactics. Take the time to research, budget, and contemplate large purchases. Only the weak minded can be Jedi mind tricked and only a Sith deals in absolutes……well that and used car salesmen.

Be aware of the Dark Side of the Force – Develop your Jedi Mind

If it sounds too good to be true, it is! Remember that money is never free, so avoid those scam checks and foreign lottery wins. Keep in mind, if the price is amazing on that piece of electronic equipment, it won’t last long out of the box. Don’t forget the biggest lesson Darth Vader learned, the desire for instant gratification always leads to the Dark Side.

…and just remember it’s not always about money…..

Just like Leia told Han: “If money is all that you love, then that’s what you’ll receive”

May the Force Be With You!
