3 Tips for Black Friday Shopping
Post-Thanksgiving shopping is now only hours away! The National Retail Federation’s forecast estimates around 164 million people will shop from Thanksgiving Day through Cyber Monday. If you plan on being one of those shoppers, we have three quick tips that will help you make the most of the Black Friday deals.
Make a List
Know your deals before you shop and make a list of the items you would like to purchase ahead of time. This keeps you from making spontaneous purchases on items you don’t need and will help you navigate and prioritize which stores you want to tackle. While researching Black Friday deals, remember that not every sale is necessarily a great deal. Once you know what you need and where you plant to get it, set a budget so you don’t blow your bank account (Here's a blog with more information on how to keep your budget in order during the holidays). A little pre-planning goes a long way in decreasing your stress level and upping your shopping efficiency.
Everyone loves to have a shopping buddy! Shopping in groups allows you to split up and tackle your lists. Something people don’t always think to do is to designate a driver who can drop the group off at the door and deal with parking so the rest of you can start getting through shopping lists as quickly as possible. Not only does this save time, but it causes less stress. Because Black Friday can get hectic and sometimes overwhelming, choose your favorite people to help keep you sane and your spirits up!
Mobile Apps/Social Media
Don’t forget about your cell phone! You can save lots of money by using a simple app. Once you decide where you’ll be shopping on Black Friday, it’s in your best interest to download the apps of each store you plan to visit. Many of them have additional Black Friday deals and savings on their mobile apps that you won’t want to miss. Using apps also allows you compare prices to make sure that you are getting the best deals. Black Friday extends through the entire weekend and goes through Cyber Monday so if you’re not interested in fighting the crowds and crazy lines, shop during special deals on Cyber Monday instead. One final tip, be kind to retail workers. This is a stressful time for everyone and a smile or kind gesture goes a long way.
